Trip with my Sister to Country Living Fair

My sister and I ventured off to Atlanta for the Country Living Fair. It was wonderful. In addition to seeing lots of antiques, collectibles - I saw lace being used in home decor in combination with burlap and muslin. My ability to adequately describe the pieces in the their splendor is limited -I am sharing a couple of the photos I took, but saw numerous other items - no they didn't make it home with me, but have inspired me to get busy making lace and using it!!

Rose Festival Arts & Crafts Show - Here I come

I am working on packing the car to go to Tyler - I have the canopy, tables and my cabinet in - now just need the main ingredient - the soap :)
The weather man says the weather will be perfect - sunny, mid 80's - I hope he is right and there is a big crowd and they buy lots of soap.
I made some upgrades on the check out booth (old radio cabinet) -the lace in the area next to name Lace Maid is an original Bucks Point lace that I made years ago- the large piece in the lower area is some machine made - over time I want to change that and put some different styles of lace that I have made- but this will work for the next several craft shows.
I will upload pictures of the set up in Tyler in a couple of days--wish me luck

New Batch

New Batch of Ocean Rain soap was created this morning - At least my house can smell like ocean rain, even if we haven't had any rain in so long it is sad.
Tomorrow I will make some lavender fragrance soaps.
Let me know your favorite scent of soap.

Have a glorious day.

New Experiences

I participated in a craft fair this weekend - I sold some product - was suprised how many customers remembered me from last year - the attendance at the fair was minimal
The vendors next to me was fun and very educational - schooled me quite about how to be a good vendor and where to get good information about which craft fairs to sell.

As I think back over the day - I think I need to vastly improve my display - make it draw more people in to sell the concept that they want to discover my product.

Need serious consideration as to whether to continue--

What is Next??

I have been giving that some thought where will Lace Maid go from here --craft shows - which ones--etsy shop--??

I read a very well written blog post by a friend - The Project Queen
The Project Queen: Life's Project: "I posted awhile back about God having a 'Project' for each of us.  We each fall into the daily grind of projects, whether it be all enc..."

it spoke to me directly- projects, projects, projects, but  will give it all more thought- will let you know when I figure it out? any suggestions?

LaBahia

It was Great fun! First time as a vendor - may not have been the right choice of venues for handmade soap & milk bath --hopefully learned about interfacing with the customer--
We saw the full range of Texas Weather! 95 degrees one day - 55 & rainy the next --
What"s next - not sure --like Scarlett O'Hara - will worry about that tomorrow.

New Adventures

Creating a new business is exciting, fun, scary all at the same time.
Made 2 batches of soap yesterday & hope to get 2 more today, but am off to make labeling decision.

The following is a poem that I found on a bench in the beautiful, peaceful garden of The English Convent in Brugge, Belguim when I visited.

A quiet mind melts out perfection
A sure hand travels to and fro
Serene beauty weaves itself around the pins
Oh Lord guide the bobbins of my life
Make all the pins I leave behind golden ones
And make the lace of my life a joy to behold.
