Novel incorporating lacemaking

A Christmas gift was the romantic novel "Lord of Lightning" by Janet Lynnford. It is a very interesting read. I enjoyed it very much. The heroine is a lacemaker who dreams of opening a lace shop and selling her original designs.  The author took the time to research lacemaking with the Central Ohio Lacemakers Guild properly and wove it into the story well.
Lord of Lightning
Now back to making lace instead of reading about it.

Decorating Mood-Lace Making Mood

I have put the Christmas tree up, hung the stockings with care--while I have several bobbin lace and tatted ornaments for my tree, I'm in the mood to make some more--maybe I'll find some time for that-check out the Bobbin Lace page to see the Lace Christmas Trees I used as centerpieces at our church Ladies Christmas Brunch. I need to get the Christmas ornaments done quickly for this holiday season so I can start on let's see Valentine's, Easter bunnies and such. Have fun lacing!

Tatting Rings

The next step in the process is Rings-- you use the same motion to create a ring in tatting as a chain- here is a video about tatting rings
I am having so much fun sharing my love of tatting with you ladies

Picots are used to join rings in tatting - place the point of the shuttle in the last picot from the previous ring and lift up the thread of the current ring - sliding the shuttle through the loop- continue making double stitches

Tatting Class Progress

2nd Week of class and we are moving right along - the ladies are doing great! They are creating beautiful double stitchs and working on rings & picots.
This picture shows a chain, ring with one picot, chain. These are all the basic parts to creating beautiful tatted projects. Next week we will put these elements together and follow a pattern.
More fun to come.

Tatting Class

Tatting

Bobbin lace - Buckspoint pattern
So excited to have started  teaching a tatting class!! Linda at Tomorrow's Quilts (it is a
Wonderful Shop)  in Waco is graciously hosting a tatting class. There is nothing more fun(other than loving on your grandchildren) than sharing what you love. I love tatting and making bobbin lace. Hopefully my enthusiasm is infectious enough to encourage them as they get the "hang of it".
